146 - Never Hike in the Snow (2020)

We're kicking off Franchise Fan Film week of Spooktober Shorts with this Friday the 13th fan film that puts Ol' Hockey Face himself into the winter woods to do what he does best. That's killin', in case you weren't sure. Turns out this is a prequel to another film that is longer than shorts but shorter than pants called Never Hike Alone. It's a capri film.Anyway, here's the SHORT!

While Ari Aster's short film Beau appears almost shot for shot in the pants film "Beau is Afraid", there are also hints of Munchausen and Basically and even The Turtle's Head at play in the pants as well. Not just a visual stylist, Ari Aster has a way with actors, and is skilled in finding compelling ways to capture them in their moment. I wonder if he has ever done any stage directing? I, for one, would love to see Ari Aster's "Death of a Salesman". That could be dope.Anyway, watch the short HERE!

HEADS UP: today's film deals with some real heavy subject matter, including sexual abuse. We wanted to make sure you know up front if that's an uncomfortable subject for you. We're going to do more of this in the future.That being said, this episode also inspired the first time in WWS history where we had a disagreement of interpretation so significant that we stopped recording mid-episode to both go back and watch the film again.You can watch the short HERE!
