135 - Lights Out (2013)

The shortest of our selections for the entire month, David Sandberg's 2013 short accomplishes more in two and a half minutes than many features do with much more. Sandberg got the chance to adapt this to a feature in 2016, and has gone on to work in the Conjuring Universe as director of "Annabelle: Creation", as well as the DCEU as director of both "Shazam" films!Watch the short HERE!

Art the Clown has rocketed to the front of the splatter pack as the sadistic torture-killer du jour, and this original short from director Damien Leone is every bit as brutal as the franchise it has become, with an grassroots demand theatrical run for "Terrifier 2" that earned $10 million at the domestic box office in October-November 2022!

Mike Flanagan is one of the biggest names in horror in 2023, but back in 2006 he was taking his first steps into the genre with this short that went on to become his second feature, and arguably the film that kick-started his career!Watch the short HERE!

Part two of our week one series of shorts that became popular features is by far the most commercially successful! James Wan's original 2003 "Saw" short (now retconned to "Saw 0.5") is 12 minutes that ultimately led to a billion dollar franchise with its tenth film in theaters now!Watch the short HERE!

Spooktober is here and we're kicking off our month-long daily drops with a week of short horror films that went on to become popular feature films! We're starting with a true piece of horror history - Sam Raimi's prEvil Dead short from 1978, "Within the Woods"!As of the time of this posting, you can see the film HERE, but pretty sure that's the third link we've had to find in the last couple of months. They keep getting removed, so please don't come for our heads if you can't see it!
